Term Time Childcare in Aylesbury
The Big Bear Nursery offers a fun and caring environment for the youngest in our community. We have a New Management Team and plenty of fresh ideas to ensure that The Big Bear Nursery offers the best start for all children who join us. Our aim is to equip children with the skills that will prepare them for starting school.
Our fully qualified and experienced nursery staff provide a stimulating range of term time activities. The children enjoy music, crafts, stories, French and active play, whilst making new friends.
At The Big Bear Nursery, we encourage positive behaviours that prepare the children for school and life. The children in our care learn to cooperate and make decisions, they have the opportunity to try new things and build their confidence. For children who stay for lunch, we ask parents to provide a packed lunch, We learn to sit together, eat well and clear away.
What We Offer
Communication through Sign
To help everyone to communicate effectively, all of The Big Bear Nursery staff sign to children throughout the session to promote self-expression and understanding. Children soon gain confidence in this early form of communication.
Letters, Sounds and Music
To develop speech, all staff are trained to deliver the Letters and Sounds Programme. This is designed for children aged 3 years+ and actively encourages the early stages of reading and writing. We also include a Musical Movement session every Friday.
Our activities include a mix of indoor and outdoor play. We have a secure outdoor space and also take the children out on supervised local walks in the immediate community.
The Big Bear nursery has gained the Smile Award for promoting positive oral health. Toothbrushes are supplied free to all children who stay for lunch and we make teeth cleaning a fun daily routine.
Run in association with The Books Trust, we provide The Big Bear Nursery children with Books and story time. Book Start helps children to develop a love of reading, which can benefit them throughout their lives.
Friends of Big Bear
We understand the importance of working in partnership with parents to provide the best care for children. ‘Friends of Big Bear’ encourages parents to work together, share ideas and help to promote and fundraise for the nursery. Previous sessions have provided parents with the opportunity to get to know each other and share advice on issues such as ‘Healthy Eating on a Budget’ and ‘Preparing your Child for School’.
